A Brief Explanation of Psyhosynthesis

Read the following breif overview and feel free to reach out or visit the blog for a deeper dive into my approach to healing and growth work.

A Transpersonal Psychology

Psychosynthesis is a framework for transpersonal psychology developed by an italian psychiatrist named Roberto Assagioli in the early 1900s, which has continued to be developed and widely used to this day. "Transpersonal" refers to an orientation toward the higher realms of experience and action, above and beyond the "normal aspects of living" (house, car, job) - A.K.A spirituality. While focused on the transpersonal, Psychosynthesis work incorporates all the realms of being - from the lower realm (instincts, drives, traumas, origins), to the "middle" realm - day to day, house/car/job, habits, relationships, to the "higher" realm - purpose, meaning, spirituality, love, compassion, ideals.

Psychosynthesis doesn't dwell in the basement" of a human being, but rather integrates the whole house - from the office, to the dining room, to the rooftop terrace under starlit sky.

Inclusive of our Wholeness

At its essence, Psychosynthesis is a study of the universal path of development and evolution, and helps people align their "Will", or chosen actions, with this natural direction of growth. In Psychosynthesis work, we respond to challenges or inspirations that arise in life (health, relationships, vocations, feelings) as a means to draw deeper into the multifaceted parts of who we are. Often in pursuit of that which is important to us in life, we recognize hidden conflicts and imbalances within, which compete for our Awareness and our Will, and often presenting themselves as "polarities" or opposites whose opposing drives drain our energy, create illness, or stop us from achieving our goals in life.

Psychosynthesis work helps us recognize, free, and integrate all of these parts of ourselves, and ultimately allow us to align our energy, agency, and peace with a life of health & meaning.
